(My Book Club Review)
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks is a fantastic tale of American History, Civil Rights, and Medicine. And Rebecca Skloot has written it in plain English, so that those of us who aren't "science people" can easily understand. It actually reads like a "true-crime" thriller and you will be fascinated by the twists and turns in this true story. It will also make you think twice the next time you go to the dentist or doctor or you get a blood test or exam done. It will definitely make you ponder how medical research was done in the past and wonder what discoveries will be made in the future. This is definitely a must read for anyone interested in science and medicine and a recommendation for history classrooms all over America.
